Description
Thirties, lean, dark-skinned, with close-cropped hair and a navigator’s calluses on her hands. A thin scar runs along her jawline. She dresses like every other Driftmere chandler, practical clothes, salt-stained, unremarkable. Her eyes are the tell, too steady, too watchful, and in dim light they catch the light wrong, reflecting it back with a faint luminescence that she hides behind tinted lenses.
Sable was a Concord of Tides navigator before her “death at sea” five years ago. She was recruited by The Whisperer after surviving a Sleepwalker episode that took her into the water and brought her back changed. She does not hear whispers, she hears clarity. Serith’s voice, to her, sounds like truth spoken plainly. She believes the prison is an injustice and the Reach is built on lies. She is wrong, but she is competent and committed.
Roleplaying Notes
- Calm, clipped speech with a navigator’s precision
- Never uses her old name, reacts with hostility if confronted with it
- Wants Tidewall to burn for declaring her dead without searching for her
GM Only
Sable runs the Veil Unbound’s most active cell from the Pale Margin, a chandlery ship in Driftmere. She coordinates operations across the Reach, moving agents and materials through Driftmere’s anonymous networks. She is The Whisperer’s most trusted lieutenant.
Her cover in Driftmere is excellent. She can be identified through her luminescent eyes (a side effect of her submersion) or through her former Concord of Tides service records, which list her as dead.
