Torvin Ashwalker
Marchwarden of Clan Ashwalker | Ashwalker’s Post | Marchwardens Council | The Verdant Marches
Appearance
Fifties, lean and scarred, with the permanently suspicious squint of someone who has spent decades watching the Scarwall and the Dominion beyond it. Dark skin, grey-streaked hair in warrior-braids. Carries a Scarwall-thorn spear, a weapon made from harvested thorns, effective and distinctive.
Personality
Suspicious of everyone, fiercely territorial, surprisingly practical. Torvin defends the border because someone must. He secretly trades with Dominion contacts because the Marches need iron and tools they can’t make. He supports neither Kaelith Thornborn nor Draven Ironbark fully, believing both are right about different things.
What He Wants
- A quiet border. Tools and iron for his people.
- Answers. Something has been moving inside the Scarwall, and he wants it to stop.
Connections
- Captain Daren Kolst, secret trading partner across the Scarwall
- Marchwardens Council, his political sphere
- Kaelith Thornborn and Draven Ironbark, neither fully trusted
GM Only
Torvin has been trading with Captain Daren Kolst at Thornwall for two years. Both men understand they are technically committing treason. Both consider the trade essential.
If the Scarwall closes entirely, this relationship could become the only communication channel between the two nations. This makes Torvin and Kolst two of the most strategically important NPCs in the setting, despite neither holding high rank.
Plot hook: PCs who discover the trade could expose it (destroying a vital link) or protect it (earning trust from both sides of the border).
