Brannoc Stillwater
Marchwarden of Clan Stillwater | Stillwater | Marchwardens Council | The Verdant Marches
Appearance
Forties, heavyset, with a broad face and easy smile that makes people underestimate him. Dresses better than most Marchwardens (traded goods from the Reach). His hands are soft for a Marcher, he’s a negotiator, not a warrior.
Personality
Commercially minded, pragmatic, genial. Brannoc is the Marches’ best trader and he knows it. He has connections with Reach merchants, The Ember Guild, and the Mutagenists. He sees opportunity everywhere and ethics as flexible.
What He Wants
- Prosperity for Stillwater and his clan.
- A larger share of the Marrow-Water trade.
- Distance from the unification debate, for as long as possible.
Connections
- Marchwardens Council, his political sphere
- The Ember Guild, trade partners
- The Hollowed Reach, merchant contacts
- Mirewatch, Mutagenist trade
GM Only
Brannoc is selling Marrow-Water samples to Reach merchants without Greensinger approval, a serious cultural violation. He doesn’t know (or care) what the buyers do with it.
Some of his samples have ended up in Veil Unbound hands, used in rituals he’d be horrified to learn about. This creates a chain of consequence: Brannoc’s greed fuels the Veil Unbound’s experiments, which accelerate the very corruption threatening the Marches.
Plot hook: Exposing this trade could shame Brannoc into compliance, or it could be used as leverage. PCs tracing Veil Unbound resources backward will eventually reach Stillwater.
