Description
Elara is in her fifties, tall and immaculately dressed in coral-white and sea-blue silks. Silver hair swept back, sharp dark eyes. Her jewelry is understated, but each piece is worth a laborer’s yearly wage. She moves with the precision of someone who has never been uncertain about anything in her life.
Calculating, patient, and ruthlessly ambitious, Elara inherited the Duskmantle coral-trading empire from her mother and tripled its value. She sees opportunity where others see crisis. The Black Tides are disrupting trade? Good, her competitors collapse first. The Bilges are declining? Good, property values drop, time to buy. She is not evil in the theatrical sense. She is a predator in the economic sense, and she does not recognize the distinction between acquiring property and acquiring power.
What she wants: To control the coastal access points beneath Tidewall. She is buying Bilges properties specifically because they sit above sea cave entrances.
GM Only
Duskmantle has discovered that the sea caves beneath her properties connect to deeper tunnel systems that run to the coast. She intends to control these tunnels as smuggling routes, bypassing the Concord’s tariffs entirely.
What she doesn’t know is that the deepest tunnels connect to the same cave network the Veil Unbound uses. She is about to accidentally stumble into a cult operation, and the cult will not take kindly to competition.
She is also unknowingly sending her family members to the Weeping Isles to treat ailments caused by exposure to Serith’s influence in the deep caves, not realizing what’s causing the sickness.
